2008 Dodge Dakota

As beautiful nose jobs, it’s the right up there with Ashlee Simpson’s and Cher. Dodge Dakota fresh face 2008 - its debut this week at Chicago’s Show - gets a beefed-up schnoz to present the big news under the hood.

Dakota is the new head of the Chrysler Group completely redesigned 4.7-liter V-8 that finds its place in everything from Ram and Durango, Grand Cherokee and Commander, in time for the year-modele’08.

Just check the numbers 60 other horses to push the corral to a first-class 290 horsepower and a torque of 10 per cent hike to raise key to a more muscular 320 lb-ft, plus an improvement five percent fuel economy, all while retaining the ability to run on E85 ethanol.

It is not exactly a brand new engine, over 30 percent of the fat bits have been changed and almost everything else was reorganized and refined.

Taking the example of the book Hemi, gets 4.7 twin-spark-plug cylinder heads and a new design for faster combustion flame spread. Take a lightweight piston / rod assembly, improving the cylinder head and a rate higher compression ratio, and this’ new ‘V-8 starts to look impressive powerful.
It does not stop there. Also new drive-by-wire electronic throttle control and a first for the area of remote starter for matinees frigid north.
But this return to spout: almost everything the front windshield is new. Gone are the Ram-esque grille in favour of a longer look Nitro, and the hood is flatter and more edgier for abandonment fendered style. We love much better.
