A marketing company JATO Dynamics has published the most top-selling models of cars on the European market for the six months of 2008. At the first line in the top-10 models, according to the company is Volkswagen Golf. Sales of the car showed an increase of 17.6%, to 254 061 units, while demand for the rest of dozens of the best model, with the exception of Peugeot 207 (+2.2% or 244 022 units respectively), were dropped. On the whole European market cars in the I half of 2008 decreased by 2.3%.

There’s no reason to expect reliability issues with the Touareg R50. If VW’s continued improvement on reliability and customer satisfaction surveys is a guide then things are looking good.

The cabin materials feel solid and well built and, just to make you feel like you’re getting your money’s worth, the Volkswagen Touareg gets alloy trim on the centre console, doors and dashboard. They are neat touches, but you do expect a little more design drama for your £62k.
